Book Online
You need your driving licence (photocard and National Insurance number if the new style licence or old style paper licence and photo ID) and two forms of identification, i.e. bank statement, passport or utility bill, dated within three months prior to the hire commencing.
Driver Requirements:
- Drivers must be within the age group for the type of vehicle being hired.
- Drivers must hold the correct category on their licence for the vehicle being hired.
- Drivers must have held a full licence for 2 years (aged 21–24) or 1 year (aged 25–74).
- Check with the office if more than 6 penalty points under 5 years or any driving bans.
- Check with the office if any major driving convictions in the past 3 years.
- Check with the office if more than 1 fault accident within the last 3 years.
Free Night Before Collection:
Free Night Before Collection is only offered on:
- A when available basis
- With no guarantee
- Can be withdrawn at any time

Payment and Confirmation of Booking:
Your credit/debit card will be debited immediately on completion of the booking process. All online bookings are automated, but do however need to be verified by a member of staff. We make every effort to supply the vehicle ordered, but in the unlikely event that there is a problem a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your options.
Security Deposit:
- On collection of the vehicle you will need to pay a refundable security deposit ranging between £100 and £250 on a major debit or credit card in the name of the main driver.
- All Deposits may be increased at the discretion of Abacus Staff.
- We accept Visa, MasterCard and Visa Debit.
- Deposits will be fully refunded when the vehicle is returned in the same state as it was let out. Please allow up to 5 working days for the deposit to appear in your bank.
- We do not accept cash, prepaid cards, pay-as-you-go cards or cheque’s.
Collection Documentation:
The following original documents must be presented at the branch at the time of collection, FOR EACH DRIVER (we do not accept photocopies). Failure to present the correct documentation, will result in your booking being cancelled:
UK Resident's:
- Driving licence.
- National Insurance Number or Share My Licence Code (see https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence).
- Passport - if travelling abroad.
- 2 forms of additional ID (showing current name and address, dated within the last 3 months)—e.g. utility bill, bank statement, council tax bill, official letter.
If visiting from outside the UK:
- Driving licence.
- Passport.
- 2 forms of additional ID (showing current name and address, dated within the last 3 months)—e.g. utility bill, bank statement, council tax bill, official letter.
- A contact address of where you will be staying in the UK.
Cancellation/Amendment Policy:
If your circumstances change, please contact the booking branch as soon as possible. The following charges will apply:
Cancellations:
- More than 24 hours notice - no charge
- Less than 24 hours notice - 1 days hire
Amendments:
- We do not charge a modification fee but an amended reservation will be at the prevailing market rates.

Abacus reserve the right to change any T&Cs without notice or not comply to the published material if certain circumstances arise. Abacus also reserve the right to refuse to hire or cancel a hire without notice under special circumstances.
